So, Anyway, I've Been Playing Duskwood

Salutations, my curious congregation. Today we're going to be talking about a phone app, because for those who don't know I was sick for like three weeks with sinusitis so bad I couldn't sit up at my keyboard, but I can bring the phone to me and in my search for something to do, this is what came up.

Duskwood is a kind of mystery game with a hacking mini-game that is basically just bejeweled. A woman from this town, Duskwood, was kidnapped, and you have to figure out from your phone what happened to her. Like, the entire thing is framed through texting and sending files and stuff, which I've seen happen before but never played personally. And I'm going to ramble about that. So buckle up.

TWs: Mention of kidnapping, depression, possibly murder, and the sheer audacity of me playing a video game on my phone.

Campaign Log 0: Rime of the Frostmaiden

Salutations, my curious congregation. Getting back into the swing of things, I want to take a minute to talk about what's going on in my home game. I'm not the dungeon master right now, Josh is, and we've been spotty about meeting up recently but we're still playing. And this, at least partially, the same group we played Horde of the Dragon Queen with.

TWs: Shenanigans and irreverence. Frostbite. A "horror" campaign. Spoilers for Rime of the Frostmaiden Ahead.

Moral Core as a Source of Conflict

Salutations, my curious congregation. Today I'm going to be talking about something I've been tossing around in my head regarding character, and while this is going to be mostly in regards to writing it can apply pretty heavily to roleplaying characters as well. That thing is what is at your character's moral core, or if you play 5E, their ideal, and how that can be a good authentic source of conflict.

TWs: The sheer insinuation that morality is flexible and not always measured on the same metric and my usual dose of irreverence.

10 D&D Session Ideas You Can Slot Into Your Campaign

You know, there are some concepts you see done over and over again? There's probably a good reason for that. Sometimes you just need a simple concept for a session to run for your party. Well, let's reach into our back pockets for some stock sessions on the off chance of that happening.

And just for the record, something being a common thing doesn't make it bad. These things get used over and over again for a good reason.

TWs: The sheer suggestion that your gaming session can be a bit derivative and still be good. Oh, churl.

Another Conversation

You've been gone for two years. It'd be nice to have you back for the holidays, but to be honest what I really want is just another mundane conversation with you.

TWs: Gonna be talking about grief. We'll see about my usual healthy dose of irreverence.

Two Years and an Unproductive Quarantine Later... (A Nonbinary Ramble)

Alright, listen, sometimes you just have to write it out. Like, sometimes I'm on here talking about fiction and tabletop stuff, and sometimes I'm on here rhapsodizing about life. This is gonna be one of the latter of those times. And maybe the end of the hiatus, but no promises. Just gotta get some stuff off my chest. Scream into the void as it were.

Trigger Warnings: -stage whisper- I'm going to be talking about pregnancy and nonbinary trans stuff so if any of that grosses you out go find something else to read please.
