Magitech: Do We Have to Keep Them Separated?

Salutations, my curious congregation. Today we're going to be talking about magic, technology, and why most settings feel the need to pry them as far apart as possible as if letting them touch is going to cause a rift in the space time continuum.

TWs: If the title didn't tip you off I'm one of those radicals that likes to let magic and technology play nice together so if that bothers you, skip this one. Also I say fuck a lot.

Magic The Gathering: Arena

Salutations, my curious congregation. I've got magic on the brain so now we're going to talk a little bit about Arena and the ups and downs I've been having with it because at the time I'm writing this, Crimson Vow is about to drop and I'm very excited about it.

TWs: General gaming wankery, swearing, the sheer corrosive force of my personality.

Wizards and Their Familiars

Salutations, my curious congregation. There's a good chance this blog entry goes up a long while after the Dissecting the Dragon Creature Type article does on Nerdarchy, but in real life I just finished it and something I found while I was researching for it inspired me. So today we're going to do a little bit of world-building.

The concept is simple; a cabal of wizards lives in the woods near to a grove belonging to a group of Faerie Dragons, and the Faerie Dragons, as part of a pact with the wizards, symbiotically become their familiars.

Expect this to be a shorter one, I'm not actually sure how far I can carry this idea, but I felt like doing some brainstorming so let's find out.

TWs: They're cute faerie dragons, man, idk what to tell you. It shouldn't be a rough one unless you're personally offended by rainbows and/or swearing. And let's be honest, if you are you left a long time ago.

RotFM Player's Log 1: Goliath Diplomacy

Salutations, my curious congregation. My home group got together for another session, finally, so that's what the blog is going to be about, today. Reminder that we are playing Rime of the Frostmaiden, so if you haven't gotten to read or play it yet there are likely to be spoilers ahead. Don't click if you don't want that.

TWs: Irreverence, shenanigans, dicery. Swearing.

In Anticipation of Rowan

Salutations, my curious congregation. I'm going to take a moment to talk about some personal stuff if you'll permit me an editorial entry. As I'm sure many of you have put together, Josh and I have a baby due in December, and I just want to talk about that a little bit since I've got him on the brain and don't have anything else pressing to talk about.

TWs: I'm going to talk about some pregnancy things, so if that bothers you or triggers dysphoria you're probably better off skipping this one. Other than that, those of you who are personally offended by the idea of the fact that Josh and I would have still used the name Rowan if he'd been a girl and that is exactly why we picked it, probably shouldn't read farther, this entry or any of the rest of the blog.

A NaNo Update From the Past

Salutations, my curious congregation. I am currently writing this on the 4th (well, kind of, it's 3 in the morning so it hasn't been the 4th for very long) but it won't be coming out until the 11th, which means at that point we'll be nearing the halfway point of National Novel Writing Month, also known as NaNoWriMo. And because I'm up to my elbows in that this month and have it on the brain, I'm going to give you an update about it instead of blogging about something else.

TWs: Irreverence, the existential terror of actually finishing a book, and some of the dirty tricks I'm using to pad out my word count for this first draft because I am, in fact, a boosted animal.

Doing a Little Bit a Day

Salutations, my curious congregation. Today, we're going to be taking a lesson from the tortoise and winning the race at a slow and steady pace. This is probably going to be a short one, but it's something I've been thinking about lately and it's going to be today's blog entry.

TWs: Aside from my usual dose of irreverence, not much. Unless you're the kind of person that is absolutely affronted by the idea of not completely busting your ass every day of your life. ...or offended by the word ass. In which case, I'm not sorry, but honestly you should probably find another blog to hang out in.

The Definition of 'Cheating'

Salutations, my curious congregation, today we're going to be talking about people having affairs--don't worry my spouse and I are not those people! I'm coming at this from the perspective of fiction and what does and doesn't qualify as cheating. It kind of astonished me to realize that the line is in some pretty vastly different places for different people.

TWs: Unfaithfulness and some irreverence about that. I might also be talking about *gasp* sex. And concepts like what goes into polyamory. Yes, I know, your delicate sensibilities. Please take them back to your good Christian blog and refrain from bursting into flames in mine <3

Star Trek TNG's "Clues" and Why it Wouldn't Work as a Tabletop Session

Salutations, my curious congregation. I've finally gotten my spouse to watch Star Trek with me, and it turns out all it took was starting him on The Next Generation rather than the Original Series. Anyway, we're on Season 4 and today (writing this very early in the morning on October 26th but this entry won't go up until much later) saw Episode 14, "Clues". So we're going to talk about that.

TWs: This one is going to heavily discuss player agency so if you're seeing those words and starting to break into hives because how dare we consent to things, go crawl back in your hole. We don't want you here. How did you even find this place? Also spoilers for an episode of a TV show that aired February 11th in 1991.
