Astrallis: The Ashek

Salutations, my curious congregation! We're getting back on the explanation wagon with the next Astrallis species, and I'm going to try to keep this one as brief as possible considering this one has no cognate in normal D&D.

CWs: Probably swearing, I'm on a new parent sleep schedule so the irreverence is probably a little watered down right now. But bear with me.

The Ashek are unique in all the galaxy because they alone can exist in the vacuum of space without a suit. They have no home planet. They're basically space mermaids that exist out there in the void, and come up on ships once in a while out of curiosity.

Because they don't have to breathe or eat, ashek have no mouths or noses. They do have fins of sorts, mostly void black bodies with the odd white patches or spots that they use to soak in as much light as possible in order to photosynthesize.

Ashek have the ability to store up some of this energy in excess and fire it as a natural weapon. They're only new to the galaxy as a whole, even though they've been here the entire time. It's just only been recently that certain members of the species have come forward to mingle with the rest of the galaxy. The ashek are remarkably good at hiding themselves.

The older an ashek gets the more their white spots start to spread over their bodies. Most are still young enough to look freckled or spotted, but an older ashek could appear piebald. The oldest among them are known as the ash'kalar, are considered leaders among their species, and a few of those have gone pure white. Those ashek are able to soak up enough light as to be considered incredibly powerful and able to recharge that energy easily and reliably.

And that's all you're getting for the blog entry. There will be more in the wiki when that goes live, but I hope you all enjoyed this slice of Astrallis for the time being!

Fortune Favors,

Robin the Red
